Here's a quote from someone that's close to EA/ISI with F1 Challenge Now a little more on the physics, a little bump can damage your wing and you will be able to feel the car's handling change (hitting someone with your front wing will cause your car to understeer etc). They also optimised the graphics engine so it should be playable for the people without a monster rig too.
Another thing you can see quite clearly is that the cars in the distance do not return to their old LOD-models but stay as they are, this is something that bothered me in F1-2002. You can also see they improved on the shadows of the cars, they are much more real, look in the picture above.
Another nice thing is that they have added a new damage model, more parts than just your wheels and wings can fall off now (like bargeboards etc), it's not sure if this will be included in the default gamecars, but it will be included in a 2003 Add-on pack made by Bobi. I suggest you buy it, all the new mods will come out for the new game (Turbo Mod V2, F1 1977, etc)Īt first, the car models have greatly been improved, F1-2002 Default models were a joke. And yes, F1Challenge will be even more modheaven than F1-2002. The graphics engine is also rumoured to have been greatly improved (you can see it on the screenshots). The netcode has improved, they have not made a new netcode, but they optimalised the old one.
The Physics are also completely redone (even more sophisticated and realistic as they are in F1-2002), it's rumoured to have new griplevels this time really adjusted to current F1 Cars. The new sounds will include the TC grumbling and are completely redone by ][udson by using reallife F1 samples. I don't know about the SBDT connection, but what I do know is that all the carshapes and textures are made by Ralph Hummerich & Co. Me thinks it's going to be mightly mod friendly. If they are adding that to the base (that the original game won't even use) then surely they are in contact with SBDT regarding improvements. Do we know if net code is completely redone?īTW, saw on the SBDT forum that the reason for going F1C for the next mods is because of support for analog dials on the dash.
